HEIC to JPG

Convert Apple's HEIC photos to JPG or PNG. HEIC is what an iPhone shoots by default and what most non-Apple software still refuses to open — this fixes that without installing anything or handing your photos to a website.

Runs entirely in your browser

How it works

  1. 01Drop in the HEIC photos straight from your iPhone — several at once is fine.
  2. 02Choose JPG for photos, or PNG if you need lossless.
  3. 03Convert, and each photo downloads as it finishes.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read from your disk by the browser and processed in this tab using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Nothing is transmitted, which you can verify by opening your browser's network panel or by disconnecting from the internet — the tool keeps working.
What is HEIC and why can't anything open it?
HEIC is the format iPhones shoot by default. It stores photos at roughly half the size of JPG at similar quality, but support outside Apple's ecosystem is still patchy — which is why a photo that looks fine on your phone will not open on a Windows machine or upload to many websites.
Why is the first photo slow?
The first conversion also downloads the HEIC decoder, which is over a megabyte of WebAssembly. Subsequent photos reuse it and are much faster.
Can I stop my iPhone producing HEIC?
Yes — Settings, Camera, Formats, then choose "Most Compatible" to shoot JPG instead. You lose the storage saving but avoid the conversion entirely.
